About Religious OCD / Scrupulosity
Scrupulosity is a subtype of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) characterized by intense and persistent fears about violating moral, religious, or ethical principles. Those who experience scrupulosity often have intrusive thoughts about being morally or religiously imperfect, sinful, or doing something wrong. They may feel anxious or guilty about their thoughts or actions, even if there’s no real justification for the fear. With the right treatment, individuals can learn to manage their symptoms and live a more fulfilling life. Our facility offers, upon request, a Faith Based OCD Intensive Outpatient Program as sometimes clients who are struggling with this type of OCD find this approach helpful as it honors their faith while separating it from their OCD.
