Mike Hourigan, MSW, ACSW
OCD & ANXIETY SPECIALIST
Mike’s journey into the field of psychotherapy was deeply influenced by his personal experience with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). While serving a proselytizing mission for the Mormon (LDS) church in Mexico, he experienced extreme symptoms of what is sometimes referred to as “Pure OCD,” which caused constant unwanted and distressing thoughts that made him question essential characteristics of who he was as a person.
Fortunately, Mike has successfully recovered from OCD and has remained symptom-free for the better part of three years. His own journey of healing inspired him to specialize in treating OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Drawing from his own recovery process, Mike brings a unique perspective to his work, allowing him to empathize with his clients on a profound level. He is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment where individuals can explore their challenges and embark on a path towards freedom from OCD.
As a therapist, Mike emphasizes the importance of maintaining hope throughout the journey to gaining freedom from OCD, believing that with perseverance and the right support, individuals can overcome their challenges and lead fulfilling lives.
