About Existential / Philosophical OCD
Existential OCD (also referred to as Philosophical OCD) is a subtype of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)where individuals experience intrusive, obsessive thoughts about deep existential or philosophical issues. These concerns are often centered around the meaning of life, existence, the nature of reality, and the individual’s place in the universe. While everyone may grapple with existential questions at some point in their lives, those with Existential OCD are excessively preoccupied with these thoughts in a way that causes significant distress and interferes with their daily functioning.
