About Mind Reading OCD
Mind Reading OCD is a subtype of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) where individuals have intrusive thoughts or compulsive beliefs about being able to read the minds of others, often assuming they know what others are thinking or feeling without any actual evidence. People with mind reading OCD are often preoccupied with whether they are being judged, criticized, or evaluated by others, and they may interpret neutral or ambiguous social cues as signs of negative judgment. They may read into casual or neutral comments, body language, or facial expressions and assume the worst. For example, if someone looks away during a conversation, the person with mind reading OCD might believe that the other person is annoyed with them. This can lead to significant distress and compulsive behaviors aimed at seeking reassurance or avoiding situations that trigger these fears.
