Learn About Our Optional Faith-Based Approach to Our Intensive Outpatient Program
Yes, we do. We have worked with every type of OCD. Our Founder, Bradley Wilson has taken his knowledge and wisdom of working with all types of OCD to create the most comprehensive Types of OCD Test. The only way he could have done this was by working with all of these different types repeatedly to understand how they show up and manifest for someone suffering from them.
Our intensive treatment program for OCD is a 3-week, 45-hour treatment program that is Monday through Friday for 3 hours per day.
Absolutely. We specialize in treating all forms of anxiety.
Although we chose the name The OCD Treatment Center, we specialize in treating all forms of anxiety.
The World Health Organization has stated that 76.8% of individuals with OCD are suffering from comorbidity, which means that they are typically dealing with OCD and some other anxiety or mental health condition.
The OCD Cycle is a disorder aspect of OCD. This is where an obsession (an intrusive, unwanted thought, mental image, fear, or fear of committing an impulse) shows up, which triggers anxiety, fear, or some other emotional response, which creates the need to perform a compulsive behavior (an action or behavior that is utilized to minimize, mitigate, or reduce the stress and overwhelm from the obsession).
Once the compulsion is performed it, unfortunately, reinforces the original obsession and guarantees that the obsession will come around once again.
If this compulsion is repeatedly performed, it will create what those with OCD call “the looping effect” where our obsessions are repeatedly swirling around in our head like a broken record.
This will repeatedly create more anxiety, which will create the need for more compulsions, that will repeatedly reinforce the obsession.
This will leave someone with OCD, “feeling stuck.”
This is The OCD Cycle.
This is what we specialize in helping clients come out of.
What happens during our IOP depends on the symptoms the client is experiencing. First, we start with education including psychoeducation and teaching the client the tools we have so the client is equipped with the knowledge they need to move through treatment with us. Our primary form of treatment for OCD is exposure and response prevention. We are able to do exposures here at the facility, in the surrounding areas such as malls or restaurants, or even work with them in their home if they live close enough to the facility. We also focus on other types of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness Based Behavioral Therapy (MBBT) for OCD and anxiety symptoms.
We are able to offer our IOP virtually to clients located in the state of California. We are unable to offer this program to clients located outside of the state of California as our therapists are not licensed to practice in any other state.
Pure O and mental compulsions are the most common type of OCD we have worked with, mostly because when clients have other types of OCD they usually have some form of mental compulsions. All of our therapists are experienced in working with clients with Pure O and mental compulsions.
Our therapists specialize only in OCD and anxiety. While our clients generally experience improvement in other areas of their mental health when their OCD and anxiety improves, we will refer them to other providers if there are diagnoses they need help working on that we do not specialize in treating.
Our IOP does not involve any group treatment. If a client is looking to work with a group, we offer evening group sessions for clients 18 years old and older but it is not part of our IOP program.
We often have clients ask us if they can do more than three weeks when they first commit to the IOP. We have our programs set at 3 weeks because often, clients do not need more than three weeks. If someone is wanting to do a longer program, we will do an assessment to see if it is an appropriate option for us to offer them, but generally an extra week is not needed.
If there is a specific therapist you want to work with for this program, we will do our best to honor your preferences but not all of our therapists offer the IOP program. Also, some of our therapists have longer wait times for the program than others. We will let you know the availability of the therapist you request ahead of time but please know that availability is subject to change.
All of our therapists specialize in treating OCD and anxiety, and are trained and experienced in using ERP for OCD.
Many clients want to see the office they will be doing the program before committing to it. You are welcome to come by but our front desk hours are not always the same hours we are open so we recommend calling ahead of time to let us know so we can be prepared to meet you and show you the space where you would be doing the program.
