OCD Treatment 

CBT helps people with OCD understand the thoughts and behaviors that contribute to their disorder. It also teaches them how to change these thought patterns and behaviors.

By learning specialized therapeutic CBT interventions, clients suffering from OCD are able to minimize the impact of intrusive thoughts and eliminate compulsive behaviors.

Exposure and response prevention is the gold-standard treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

The premise of ERP is that by exposure to the things that trigger your OCD obsessions, you can learn to manage and eventually stop your compulsive behaviors. This exposure can be done in a number of ways, such as imaginal exposure (i.e., mentally imagining the exposure), in vivo exposure (i.e., exposure to real-life situations), or exposure via massed practice (i.e., repeated exposure to the trigger over a short period of time).

The key to ERP is to provide exposure to the trigger while also preventing the compulsive response. In other words, you would expose yourself to the fear-triggering situation or object but not engage in the compulsions that usually follow. Through this process, you can learn that the anxiety will eventually subside and that the compulsions are not necessary. Ultimately, ERP can help you reduce your OCD symptoms and improve your quality of life.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, also known as ACT, is a type of therapy that has been shown to be effective in treating OCD. The goal of ACT is to help people learn to accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment, and to commit to taking actions that are in line with their values. One key component of ACT is exposure and response prevention, which involves exposure to the things that trigger OCD symptoms, without engaging in the compulsive behaviors that provide temporary relief.

MBBT is a specific type of mindfulness-based therapy that is designed specifically for treating OCD.

The main goal of MBBT is to help people with OCD to become more aware of their thoughts and behaviors, and to learn how to control them. MBBT has been shown to be an effective treatment for OCD, and it can help people to reduce their symptoms and improve their quality of life.

Please note, that we do not have a psychiatrist on our staff or prescribe medications at The OCD Treatment Center but will work with your psychiatrist or prescribing doctor to help coordinate your highest level of care.

Medication is also often used to treat more severe cases of OCD. The most common types of medication used are antidepressants, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). These medications can help to reduce the obsessions and compulsions associated with OCD.
