About Incest OCD
Incest OCD is a specific form of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), where an individual experiences unwanted, intrusive thoughts or images related to incest or sexually inappropriate behavior involving family members. These thoughts are highly distressing and cause significant anxiety for the individual, who may fear that they are a danger to their family or that they may act on the thoughts, even though they have no desire to do so.
It’s important to note that people with incest OCD have no actual desire to engage in incestuous behavior. In fact, they often feel disgusted, horrified, or repulsed by the thoughts, but the nature of OCD means that the individual feels trapped by these unwanted thoughts. This can create overwhelming shame, guilt, and fear of acting on the thoughts, leading to compulsive behaviors aimed at neutralizing or preventing these thoughts.
