About Hit and Run OCD
Hit and Run OCDÂ involves intrusive thoughts or obsessions related to the fear of causing harm to others, particularly in situations like a hit and run. People with this form of OCD may experience excessive anxiety and distress over the idea that they may have hit someone with their vehicle, even if they don’t remember doing so or have no evidence of it. In response to these intrusive thoughts, the individual might engage in repetitive behaviors like driving back to check the area where they were previously, looking for any signs of an accident, or even obsessively rethinking their driving habits. These thoughts can be highly distressing and may appear to be “vivid” or very realistic, despite being irrational causing those with this type of OCD to have difficulty distinguishing between reality and their own thoughts.
